The Ducomo is dedicated to San Geminiano (also known as Saint Geminianus, Saint Geminian, or Saint Gimignano), a 4th century deacon who became the second Bishop of Modena.

... der Glockenturm der Kathedrale von Modena, er ist etwa 86 Meter hoch und für Italien typische freistehend, also nicht direkt mit der Kirche verbunden. Den Namen erhielt er wegen zwei girlandenartige Marmorgeländer im Bereich der Turmspitze, der fünfgeschossige Glockenturm gilt als Wahrzeichen der Stadt.
