There was a knight who walked along a river with his beloved. As a sign of love, he picked a small bunch of flowers for her. But because of the weight of his heavy armor, he fell into the water. He could not stay above water and at the last moment he shouted: 'Forget me not!' The woman was left behind in tears. The forget-me-not therefore stands for romance and sadness. www.bnnvara.nl/vroegevogels/artikelen/het-verhaal-van-het...
In the Middle Ages, a knight was once walking along a river with his lover. While picking a bunch of flowers, the weight of his armor caused him to fall into the water. As he was drowning he threw the bunch of flowers to his loved one and shouted "Forget me not". This flower is linked to romance and tragedy and was often worn by women as a sign of loyalty and infinite love.
According to a Greek legend, God gave all plants a name at creation. When he thought he was done, a little blue flower shouted: "Oh Lord, don't forget me!". “That is what your name will be,” the Lord then said.
