A closer look at the Sopwith Pup, one of the most admired British fighters of the First World War. Light, nimble, and forgiving to fly, the Pup earned a reputation as a pilot’s favourite. Captured here on display at Old Warden, it stands as a proud reminder of early aviation ingenuity and the spirit of the Shuttleworth Collection.
The Bell 47H-1 is a rare, deluxe variant of the iconic Bell 47 series. Introduced in the mid-1950s, it featured a fully enclosed and sound-proofed cabin with car-style leather seats and an elegant metal monocoque tail boom with integrated baggage space - designed for comfort and style rather than mass appeal. Only 33 of these refined helicopters were ever built, and one served the Belgian Antarctic Expedition (1957–59) before making its way into restoration and display.
