This late 1940s to early 1950s photo captures two young boys sitting on large rocks near a waterfall. They are dressed in classic mid-century style with matching high-waisted shorts, striped suspenders, and white T-shirts, evoking a timeless sense of childhood adventure.

Artist: George Kufrin, 1960
“Gertrude W. Behmenburg, pictured here, became one of the first supermodels. [She was known professionally as Wilhelmina Cooper.] At the time this was taken, she was just starting out. Kufrin brought her to Wells Street and found this pile of rubble. She stood there and the kids just came.”

My caption: Child with chicken
Chickens (scientific name: Gallus gallus domesticus or Gallus domesticus) are the most common domestic animals worldwide.
Chickens were domesticated more than 8,000 years ago in Southeast Asia, and were then introduced to the rest of the world by sailors, traders, and migrants.
In 2020, the global chicken population was over 33 billion birds.
They are bred on all continents and countries except Antarctica and Vatican City.
To meet the growing demand for animal foods, high-yielding commercial chicken breeds were developed in recent decades for meat and egg production. Nearly 1,600 different local chicken breeds are recognized worldwide.
