自一○八課綱實施以後，各家出版社的課本都必須依據課綱編寫，仔細檢視各版本的內容，會發現其中存在著相當多的問題。
以國中歷史課本為例，七年級歷史談到日治時代以及國民政府時代，就歷史學的觀點，當然會分別敘述政治措施、經濟與社會等層面。但仔細分析其內容，會發現課本對於日治時期的敘述多以正面詞彙為主，例如亞洲第一水力發電廠、懷念、安撫、開放、興建等動詞；但是在國民政府時期，卻是負面敘述多於正面的敘述，例如濫墾、濫建、貪汙、濫權等。這樣的描寫方式，對於學生史觀的建立有不利的影響。
以語言政策為例，日治時代在皇民化運動時期推動說日語，國民政府時期也推動國語政策；若以外來殖民者的史觀，兩者同屬外來語言的推動，但是教科書在皇民化運動時期的描述是「強化認同感與愛國心」，而在國民政府時期的敘述，卻指出「造成各族群的語言逐漸消失，原住民喪失了對自身的認同」。類似的政策，卻有著不同的描寫方式，這應該是目前歷史課本最應修正的部分。
