An instance of the little-remarked-upon "only-narrowly-cleared downtown sidewalk" phenomenon, Lansing Mich.

It is little-remarked-upon because it is uncommon that two pedestrians would pass one another in this part of town!, snow or no snow.

Look at these ornamental shrubs alongside this sidewalk on a streetcorner at the edge of a large empty parking lot in downtown Lansing Michigan.

There are wads of snow in the shrubs' branches.

Ah yes yes yes, a 1951. by Tim Kiser

Ah yes yes yes, a 1951.

Do not be tricked by the four vertical ornaments: Per Google Street View, they were installed sometime after September 2017. To fully understand the building's 1951ness, you need to mentally strip away the four ornaments.

Also imagine old bad 1950s drafty windows that cause pinched-finger injuries every time you open or close them, instead of these.

Ah yes yes yes, an entire neighborhood's worth of yellow plastic utility pole guy wire covers.

The city was not already humid enough! by Tim Kiser

The city was not already humid enough!

I loved the display of warm moisture. The pressure of escaping steam was causing the manhole lids to rattle.

Happy about steam.

Ah the aftermaths of torrential rains in cities with district heating systems, when heavy runoffs get boiled upon contact with the underground steampipes. I love to see it.
