Leute, Leute, Leute. Mitte der 90er, Köln. Ich stolpere über einen Betonklotz. Kein Drama, keine Oscar-verdächtige Story. Fünf Jahre später: Ein Video. Ein Typ. Der Wolf, der seine alte Karre unter einen Betonmischer parkt. Mitten in einer kleinen Kölner Straße verwandelt sich sein Auto in einen Betonwürfel. Das Radio dudelt, und vielleicht pustet der Auspuff noch paar Blubberblasen in den Beton. Und dann dämmert's mir: Das ist der Klotz von damals! Nur hatte ich keine Ahnung, dass hier im besten Mafia-Stil ein Auto versenkt wurde.

Ein kurzer Exkurs: "Ruhender Verkehr" nennt sich das Kunstwerk auf dem Kölner Hohenzollernring, 1969 von Wolf Vostell ins Leben gerufen. Ein Auto, komplett in Beton gegossen, nur die Umrisse sind noch zu erkennen. Ein Statement, ein Hingucker, ein typisches Köln-Ding eben."

Also, 30 Jahre lang hat das Ding da gestanden, und keiner hat's gecheckt. Das sollte doch mitten im Verkehr stehen, uns ein bisschen auf die Palme bringen. Nicht als Deko auf irgendeiner Grünfläche oder einem dieser typischen Kölner Mittelstreifen posieren. Drei Jahrzehnte später hat wohl jemand bei der Stadt Köln in der Gebrauchsanleitung geblättert. Und was passiert jetzt? Genau, der Betonklotz zieht um. Macht es sich gemütlich in einer Parklücke, zwischen Neumarkt und Rudolfplatz. Endlich da, wo er hingehört. Besser spät als nie, oder?"

In the garden outside the building is a permanent large sculpture piece by Wolf Vostell called “Why did the process between Pilate and Jesus last only two minutes?” which has been formed using a Russian Mig-21 aircraft, together with two cars, various computer monitors and three pianos, rising to a height of 16 meters. (1996)
