This gate connects the Japanese-style garden and the ring path to the Sculpture Park on the grounds of Meijer Gardens.

Behind the lens is the entrance to the Japanese-style garden. In warm weather the stone fountain trickles water to overflow and allow visitors to rinse their hands before entering as a symbolic body purification. Most people only look and enjoy the sound of the trickling water, sometimes taking a photo, too. But in winter the feature is sealed in shrink-wrap and the pipes are drained to avoid breaking from the expansion of water becoming ice.
