CENTRAL AMERICAN AGOUTI Dasyprocta punctata in Ecuador. This is one of two young Central American Agoutis that have been following their mother at a location along the Vía Cunuco, about one mile northwest of Mindo, in northwestern Ecuador at 9:51 AM on March 21, 2023.

The Central American Agouti belongs to the family Dasyproctidae. Agoutis are distributed from southern Mexico through Central America south to southern Bolivia and northern Argentina. Other names include Guaqueque Alazán y Aguti (México), Cuinco y ñenque (Panamá), Guatín (Colombia), Picure (Venezuela) y Guatusa (Costa Rica, Honduras, Ecuador).

Uno de dos jovenes de Guatusa Dasyprocta punctata que se vieron siguiendo a su madre a la orilla de la Vía Cunuco unos 2 kilometros al noroeste de Mindo en el noroeste de Ecuador a las 9 y 51 de la mañana el 21 de marzo de 2023.

CENTRAL AMERICAN AGOUTI Dasyprocta punctata in Ecuador. Two young Central American Agoutis are side by side. They have been following their mother who just crossed a dirt driveway to the left. This was observed along the Vía Cunuco, about one mile northwest of Mindo, in northwestern Ecuador at 9:50 AM on March 21, 2023.

The Central American Agouti belongs to the family Dasyproctidae. Agoutis are distributed from southern Mexico through Central America south to southern Bolivia and northern Argentina. Other names include Guaqueque Alazán y Aguti (México), Cuinco y ñenque (Panamá), Guatín (Colombia), Picure (Venezuela) y Guatusa (Costa Rica, Honduras, Ecuador).

Dos jovenes de Guatusa Dasyprocta punctata están lado a lado. Se vieron siguiendo a su madre a la orilla de la Vía Cunuco unos 2 kilometros al noroeste de Mindo en el noroeste de Ecuador a las 9 y 50 de la mañana el 21 de marzo de 2023.
