Green Heron (Butorides virescens) eating a crayfish - Rollins Savanna, Lake County Forest Preserve District, near Grayslake, IL - 24 August 2020
It took about 5 minutes for the heron to catch, dip-to-clean, position and swallow the crayfish. All I could imagine was how the various appendages had macheted their way through the bird.
Crayfish are members of the superfamilies Astacoidea and Parastacoidea.
