The ATB Joyce L VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader heads up the Buffalo River with a load of sand out of Brevet, MI. The pair are seen here passing the 1833 Buffalo Main Lighthouse which once marked the mouth of the river. The tower and grounds are occasionally open as a museum. 4-27-24

The ATB Joyce L VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader pass by the NY Power Authority dock as they head up the Buffalo River with a load of sand out of Brevet, MI. The pair will continue up the City Ship Canal on the right heading for the CSI Sand Dock.
Know Your Ships tells us the Joyce L VanEnkevort was built in 1998 and is 135' long with a 50' beam. She is mated with the barge Great Lakes Trader which was built in 2000 and is 740' long with a 78' beam and capacity of 39,600tons. The pair have a combined length of 840' and are owned and operated by VanEnkevort Tug and Barge of Escanaba, MI.

The ATB Joyce L VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader pass through the Watson Basin as they head up the Buffalo River to deliver a load of sand out of Brevet, MI. The USS Little Rock and USS Croaker can be seen to the left with the NY Power Authority workboats to the right. At 840' combined length they are one of the largest vessels ever to transit this part of the Buffalo River. 4-27-25
