The ” Great White Ball ” by Ludovico Quaroni
Gibellina is famous for its works of contemporary art, and only city rebuilt after the earthquake advent of a new model of development and different from its history.
As argued Senator Corrao “secular, modern, democratic, art can not be alone in the churches or in large mansions or in the service of a sort, a power, but must be outside, on the street, just so it becomes art for everyone. “
In the old country church it was in the center of the city, easily accessible, but the choice of putting the church on the edge of the village and not in the main square, deeply changed the habits of the inhabitants. Located in the highest of the small hill overlooking the plain of Gibellina Nuova area, the Mother Church, is presented as a symbol of rebirth, in the perfection of the white sphere that expands across the valley leading to a very strong call towards the observer as a place of worship.
