Briargate Reflection Pond ~ CO Springs

This picture depicts a bus stop at the Briar Gate terminus in Long Eaton, which runs every 20 minutes by the Indigo.

As the first official service to run 24/7 in the UK, the Indigo has been a brilliant route to ride on.

I knew this route as the Rainbow 5, when it was using TWENTY-FIVE purple Scania Wright Solars that ran every 6-7 minutes. With those number of buses, 17 buses from Nottingham to Beeston were running per hour at the time, approximately every 4-5 minutes at peak times during the daytime! Did you know that this route used to serve Loughbrough, East Midlands Airport and Castle Donnington prior to the introduction of the Skylink Nottingham (formally Long Eaton Xprss) and the most recent extension of the My15 route?

However, the fifth rainbow route became known as Indigo in 2008; it sported air-con, stylish looks and 25 INDIGO Volvo Wright Eclipses. When the refurbishment arrived in 2016, the frequency of every 6-7 minutes was reduced to every 10 minutes from Long Eaton to Nottingham via Toton, Chilwell, Beeston and QMC to improve reliability and timekeeping. The refurbishment in 2016 still kept the features that the 2008 buses had, but included free WiFi and USB sockets so that you can never get bored on your commute. However, due to low usage, free WiFi was taken off on most trentbarton routes except The Sixes, Red Arrow, Skylink (Nottingham, Clifton and Derby) and a few Mickleover, i4 and Indigo buses, which has now been brought back on most buses as I have been told by one of the Trent Barton drivers as of August 2021.

As of 2018, the Eclipses have been since cascaded onto other routes since Indigo now uses Enviro 200 MMCs.

724 - 725 = Rapid One/spare (before the route had gotten withdrawn on March 21, 2020);

742; 745 = X38;
746 - 751 = The Comet.
