PRIMFEED: Ashes in the Wind

The fields burned under a blood-red sky, the world splitting at the seams with every step she took. Her name was Kaelen — though few dared to say it out loud. Black leather straps bit into her pale skin, each buckle and blade a testament to the lives she’d already ruined. Fire twisted behind her, molten wings of ash and rage stretching wide like a dying phoenix.
In her right hand, a curved dagger. In her left, the chain that would drag a soul screaming into hell.
"Mac," she whispered, his name slicing the thick, choking air. "You think you can fuck with fate and walk away?"
Mac had crossed her once — not in some petty human way. No. He had betrayed her when she was still half-human, back when her heart still beat with something close to hope. He stole her magic, sold her name to the Hell-Lords for a quick climb up the food chain. Left her to burn.
Big mistake.
Tonight, she was done playing nice.
The grass shriveled around her bare feet as she hunted him down the broken road. Her senses flared — she smelled him, even over the smoke: blood, sweat, and fear. He was close.
She found him on his knees in a shattered chapel, praying to gods that never listened.
Pathetic.
Mac looked up — dark eyes wide, terror eating him alive. "Kaelen...I didn't know...I thought you were dead!"
Kaelen tilted her head, the fire from her wings hissing like vipers. Her smile was a razor blade. "You thought wrong."
With a snap of her fingers, the shadows swallowed the doorways, the windows, the light. Trapping him. No escape. He tried to run anyway. They always did.
Kaelen lunged, wrapping the cursed chain around his throat, the dagger dragging a deep cut across his chest. His soul screamed before his body could. She yanked — and Mac's spirit tore free, black and rotting from the inside out.
Hell didn’t just open up for her. It rolled out the fucking red carpet.
Dragging him behind her like spoiled meat, Kaelen walked straight into the waiting mouth of the abyss.
No mercy. No forgiveness.
Only fire.
