The Matchbox 1978 Dodge Monaco is still in theory one of my all time favourite casting of theirs but boy does this new release test that accolade! It lost its separate roof mounted lightbar back in 2014 to be replaced by the el cheapo integrated -with- glazing variety plus a loss of much needed chrome too! Now admittedly since then this casting hasn't really been seen much but returns for the new MBX Retro II five vehicle set with unspeakably naff looking yellow glazing which just looks wrong!
Thankfully its new Red Valley Camp themed livery does look believable and suits the casting as well as its continued use of chrome disc wheels. If I do get the opportunity in getting another example I will of course give it some additional Molotow chrome.
