Came up from Texas recently and I believe will be painted in Blue Angels livery which was their first jet
The Cougar had the same type designation as the Panther although the design was quite different and basically new. Pre-1962 the Cougars where known as F9F-8 and the Panthers were known as F9F-4.

Served for a mere 9 years such was the pace of technology at this time in this role and retired in 1964 after Navy and Marines service. Joined the museum in 1969 with VF-81 colors.
