April 1941, before being transferred to 10 Flying Instructors School (FIS), RAF Woodley, Reading, Berkshire on 15th. July 1942. It then moved to 8 EFTS at Woodley on 7th. May 1946. On 26th. June the aircraft moved to 8 Reserve Flying School (RFS) at Woodley where it was coded 'RCQ-O'.
It left Woodley on 20th. June 1951 for 18 RFS at RAF Fairoaks, Chobham, Surrey where it was coded '25'.
It went to 62 Group Communications Flight, RAF Colerne, Wiltshire on 1st. May 1952, transferring to the Colerne Communications Squadron on 6th. August 1952, the squadron previously being 81 Group Communications Flight until July 1952.
The aircraft was sent to 9 Maintenance Unit (9 MU) at RAF Cosford, Staffordshire on 6th. February 1953 for storage pending disposal.

It was struck off charge when sold on 21st. October 1953 to the Association of British Aero Clubs. Given the UK civil registration G-ANFL (C of R R4191/1) on 22nd. October 1953, the aircraft flew with The Norfolk & Norwich Aero Club Ltd at Norwich.
Partly overhauled at Pendeford, Staffordshire during January 1954, according to some published sources, the Tiger Moth was intended for export to Japan. However, the sale fell through, and G-ANFL was placed into store at Rackheath, Norfolk from 1954 to 57.
The aircraft moved to Panshanger, Herfordshire in August 1957. The registration was cancelled 1st. October 1957 and sold to Elwin McAully, trading as Fakenham Flying Group. The registration was cancelled on 6th. April 1962 (Air Ministry notified 27th. June 1963) and registered back to Airspray (Colchester) Ltd on 17th. July 1963 (C of R R4191/4). The C of A lapsed on 23rd. May 1964 as 'Withdrawn From Use'.
The aircraft was still stored at Boxted in December 1966. The registration was cancelled on 1st. March 1967. Sold to unknown party. Registration cancelled again, possibly due to sale of 1.3.67 falling through, on 8th. June 1967 as 'Permanently Withdrawn From Use'.
The aircraft then went to Richard Teverson, Waits Farm, Belchamp Walter in Essex from 1974 to September 1976
Re-registered (C of R G-ANFL/R5) 25th. September 1984 to Robin Paul Whitby, Denis Raymond Whitby and Ralph Whitby of Fakenham, Norfolk for rebuild. Reflown at Langham, Norfolk on 12th.June 1987. C of A renewed 29th.September 1987. Later based at Swanton Morley, Norfolk.
C of A lapsed on 7th. February 1997; renewed 24th. April 1998. Damaged on landing at Little Snoring at 16:15 hrs. 4th. July 1998. According to the AAIB Report into the incident:
"The aircraft departed Swanton Morley and flew to Little Snoring to carry out training for a pilot who held a Private Pilot's Licence, but was inexperienced on the Tiger Moth. On joining the circuit, the wind was observed to be straight down Runway 25 and probably 10 to 15 knots. The aircraft was positioned for a glide approach to Runway 25 with the handling pilot in the rear seat.
The approach was flown at 50 knots with the intended point of landing just beyond the threshold. Both the pilot and witnesses on the ground considered that the approach was normal until, at about 20 yards short of the threshold and at a height of about 10 feet, the aircraft began to sink rapidly. It contacted the ground heavily on its left wheel and turned through about 120° before coming to rest.
The pilot considered that the cause of the accident was wind shear close to the ground."
Damage sustained to airframe as per the AAIB report: "Substantial damage to landing gear and propeller".

Repaired and returned to service. Re-registered on 27th. August 1999 (C of R G-ANFL/R6) to Robin Paul Whitby, trading as IDA Flying Group, Swanton Morley, Norfolk. Re-registered on 22nd. October 2004 (C of R G-ANFL/R7) to Felthorpe Tiger Group Ltd, Foulsham, Norfolk, with the aircraft based at Felthorpe, Norfolk. C of A replaced by Permit to Fly on 24 June 2013.
