A beautiful giant anteater I met crossing the road at Serra da Canastra National Park. A fabulous animal which is, like all others, vulnerable... I wish it was a prank, but it is not... no prank could ever meet the sad situation which are living...
Wishing you all a Peace and a nice travel Tuesday.
Thanks a lot for your visits, comments, faves, invites, etc. Very much appreciated!

This tranquil image captures a giant anteater resting in its enclosure at Aalborg Zoo on September 29, 2012, at 11:37:14. The gentle curve of its elongated snout, its shaggy fur, and its curled posture reflect the calm demeanor of this fascinating species.
Shot with my Nikon D5100 DSLR camera and AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens, the subdued lighting within the enclosure accentuates the anteater’s natural colors and textures. The low light adds a serene, intimate feel, inviting the viewer to appreciate the unique beauty of this specialized insectivore.
The composition frames the anteater’s peaceful resting position, emphasizing its distinctive adaptations, including its powerful claws and elegant, bushy tail. This image captures a rare moment of stillness from this remarkable creature. Feedback is welcome—what do you think of this quiet, contemplative scene?
This Giant Anteater was found at 6am, just after sunrise. This is the best time to find them as they are generally nocturnal. Shortly after finding this individual it walked in to some dense vegetation to bed down for the day.
The giant anteater is found in multiple habitats, including grassland and rainforest. It forages in open areas and rests in more forested habitats. It feeds primarily on ants and termites, using its fore claws to dig them up and its long, sticky tongue to collect them. Conservation status is listed as Vulnerable.
