Yellow-legged Gulls (Larus michahellis) are extremely adaptable and can be found on both the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts. They are closely related to the Herring Gulls (Larus argentatus), from which they can be distinguished mainly by the colour of their legs.
They are great predators of small marine and terrestrial animals, and help disperse plant seeds, as they also feed on some fruits.
Most of them are resident, although they can make migratory movements in response to the availability of food.
