Cray YMP-EL by stiefkind

Released to the public domain

Cray YMP-EL

This was the smallest Cray Y-MP compatible system to buy. The system in the picture is a 4-CPU configuration, there was also a 2-CPU configuration available. Those systems were widely used for software development, before deploying the code on a real Y-MP, which compute time was way more expensive then on the small YMP-EL. The system on the picture was donated by the Leibniz Rechenzentrum, Munich, Germany.
