Back in 1996, Y112 had recently been returned to service after many years plinthed in Ballarat, and was seeing regular use on tours in western Victoria. In early November 1996, Y112 is captured drifting downhill through Lovely Banks, on the final stretch of its journey from Ballarat to Geelong.
Immediately behind Y112 is a water gin - making up for the lack of trackside watering facilities - followed by an ABU carriage, three V cars, the "Enterprise" end-platform carriage, and a ZD guards van at the end. Since the V cars and Enterprise all date back to the 1800s they have screw-link coupling, and required the use of adapter vehicles - the ZD and the ABU - before they could be hauled around the state.
