446 to Hatton Cross

White Bus 82 (BV73 MKL) is seen at Chertsey Heriot Road with a 446 to Hatton Cross. This is one of a number of Volvo B8RLE/MCV Evoras to have entered the fleet in the last year, but this one still lacks fleet names.

Like the 461, the 446 seems to be going from strength to strength at the moment. Its rationalisation to run directly between Woking and St Peter's via Ottershaw instead of via Addlestone appears to have given it a good footing as a direct service that doesn't take ages to get everywhere, and White Bus - who took the service over from Abellio Surrey from 2nd September 2017 - do a good job of running it.

Run hourly Woking - Staines, September 2019 saw short journeys between Woking and St Williams Perkins's School (just short of Chertsey) introduced, in association with St Peter's Hospital, to increase the service to every 30 minutes over that section,

Then from 4th December 2023, the service was extended beyond Staines to Ashford Hospital, Heathrow Terminal 4 and Hatton Cross using funding from Heathrow Airport, with a structure of every 30 minutes between Woking and Staines, and broadly hourly beyond to Hatton Cross, although with gaps at certain times and no evening service.

From Monday 29th July 2024 there were more improvements, including new early morning buses from Chertsey and Staines to Heathrow Airport and Hatton Cross running daily from 3am, and with the journeys to Hatton Corss now running 7 days a week.

The route is also due to recieve electric buses in due course following a successful ZEBRA bid by Surrey CC.

This Sunday journey photographed was very busy with all rows of seats taken by Chertsey.
