Fox squirrels on campus at the University of Michigan on Friday April 25th, 2025. Warm day in Ann Arbor - a squirrel momma was pancaking to grab some relief from her little ones! Wishing you joy, health, and peace wherever you are. Sending you hugs if you need that also.

Fox squirrels on campus at the University of Michigan on Wednesday April 23rd, 2025. Saw my first juveniles this season - in the great tree in front of Angell Hall. Mother has three - maybe four little ones. Some squirrels also with mange, but that is getting better. The magnolia tree by UMMA was at its peak - providing a nice backdrop for a squirrel or two. Wishing you joy, health, and peace wherever you are. Sending you hugs if you need that also.
Blessed those who have
show-off siblings. They toil
in a long shadow.

Assessing risks on
campus, young squirrels should heed,
trust but verify.

We were driving on Meririman heading north from DTW Airport a few years ago when I noticed that the park just north of Cherry Hill and the Garden City Post Office seemed to have a good number of squirrels. I knew I had to go back there (but without Runyon). With Pam at Grant-A-Wish in Livonia, I realized I had an opportunity to visit the park. Wow! There must have been 30-40 squirrels at the park (that I can see). Most of them were Eastern Grey Squirrels (in both grey and black color variants) and Eastern Fox Squirrels (there were fewer of those). They are clearly being fed and will run up to you. This is quite a great squirrel tourism location! Taken in Garden City, Michigan on Saturday April 12th, 2025 - a bright day - making pictures of darker squirrels a bit tricky!
A squirrel's coat is
more complex than one might think.

If squirrels went to
conferences, they'd have tote bags
to carry their lunch.
