Battle Hardened

This Samabar Deer (Rusa unicolor unicolor) was lying in the water alone when we first saw him but got obviously got cautioned by the noise of the jeep approaching the bank. The wounds are likely to caused by a leopard attack, although the my tracker ws not able to exactly find the reason. I usually see them in pairs and this is the first time I saw one alone.

Morning Light

I was on vacation with the family in Viharagala, Beragala (Sri Lanka) last weekend and as usual, sneaked out early morning with my camera being hopeful of capturing some shots of early garden birds. It was misty in the morning and wasn't so great for photography, but when I spotted this Common Iora, the morning light was just fine..

brave or stupid?

This was taken with 300mm F4+ 1.4x convertor in Wilpattu, Sri Lanka. He was first standing beside the road and as the vehicle approached went to the road side and stayed without moving. May be he thought he was camouflaged.

Fingers Crossed?

I did my first trip to Wilpattu after it reopened in 2010. It was indeed and awesome experience and an interesting one. Whilst I made several attempts from last year to make a trip, it never materialised due to various reasons. Finally...

Saw thousands of leopard tracks during the trips to the park, but was not fortunate to site a single one. It was a bit disapointing, but was very exiting at the same time. It is a true representation of untamed beauty of Sri Lanka..
