Here was my submission for a pageant to designate this decade's OFFICIAL PORTRAIT of the Middle Fork Zumbro River.

Mine probably won't win because it isn't cute enough.

Ah the North Branch Middle Fork Zumbro River, a pleasant small creek with an absurd name. by Tim Kiser

Ah the North Branch Middle Fork Zumbro River, a pleasant small creek with an absurd name.

By absurd I don't mean bad necessarily.

I notice the state highway signs in the region just ignore the fork and branch designations: All the forks and branches are just called the "Zumbro River" according to the signs placed at bridges across them. I strongly, strongly, strongly, strongly disapprove of that practice.

Are the woods cheering us on, or are they attacking us.

Are we being fluttered at, or are we being encroached upon.

We might have here a gang of ash, but I am not certain of that.
