The idea of this photo waste use the "bokeh" effect on the lights behind the subject. I had my model(the subject) stand in font the lights, as I took the photos looking up at him, rather than looking down. The editing I did after, softened the light on the subject and the image in general. One thing that didn't work well was the technique of the "bokeh", and taking the picture head-on. Taking it from this lower angle, defined the face more, and kept the lights in the frame.

Based upon multiple visual clues & the process of elimination, I believe this to be the SA-2 (S-I-2) booster, just after being unloaded from the barge Palaemon, ca. February 1962, commencing its overland detour/transport to subsequently be loaded aboard the barge Compromise (renamed Promise).
Promise arrived at Cape Canaveral February 27, 1962. SA-2 was successfully launched from LC-34, April 25, 1962.

"To students of astronomy, Saturn is a far-off planet. But to the space people, it is a booster that can help the U.S. take a big step forward in the space race. Here is the tail-end of Saturn, which will be test-fired in two weeks (Oct. 16) from Cape Canaveral, Fla."

Almost reads like way too many "official" NASA captions. Just kidding...b'just barely...unfortunately.

Based on the press slug, it might/should(?) be SA-1. I'd like to think newspaper editors back then would've matched up the right rocket photo to the story, However, I'm not fully convinced. Primary reason being - and I concede it's weak - is because of the numbers on the H-1 engine covers. I've not seen those in all the photos I have, or seen elsewhere...that are confirmed to be of S-I-1/SA-1.
Who knows. Close enough, right?
