An alpine flower garden in summer - so many striking colours to choose and combine...!

The initial image, though I liked it, was somewhat flat and a trifle dull. I've pepped it up in the camera's processing unit - a little brightening, some additional contrast, intensification of colour. We popped into the "Toy camera" department, where we added some vignetting, a little more softening (as if my original wasn't soft enough!), and a rather nice bluish cast. I hope you like it! HSS!

P.S. A note on the bokeh - this effect, albeit a little intensified by the increased contrast, is achieved entirely with the optics. The lens has a perforated disc ( concentric circles) mounted just in front of the diaphragm. In addition I used a so-called Duto filter - plain glass with concentric circles engraved.

Flowerbed...

Bokeh weird and wonderful!

The bokeh is not the result of some texture programme in Photoshop or the like, but primarily the result of the optics used, "enhanced" in processing with the clarity control, otherwise known as a detail extractor.
Initial processing in the RAW-converter built into the Pentax K-1, along with the application of "digital filters". Further work on colour intensification, shading and vignetting in SilkyPix Developer Studio Pro 9.

Do view large and zoom in! It's fun!

Himalaya blue poppy [Explore 16.07.2023]

Seen in the "Alpinum Schatzalp", a botanical garden with around 6000 different plants 1800m above sea-level in the grounds of the "Berghotel Schatzalp" overlooking the town of Davos in Switzerland.

Snapped with an almost unique lens - an SMC Pentax-M 50mm f:1.7 "Soft". ( For more information see my previous photo and my album...)
