Old Joe Longthorne has had a makeover, and sadly, it is Joe Longthorne MBE no more. I guess time and tributes have to move on, as it has in East Yorkshire. And although you could say that Captain Tom Moore's E400 over in Bedford was given it's name back, I think a local Northern comic pales in significance to him. And so, 26274 becomes yet another E200MMC I have too many photos of. Ah well. I remember this being on the Hull Royal Infirmary runs in deepest lockdown - I don't think it'll be on those anymore. Or for a while, at least.
Now having lost the tribute to Joe Longthorne MBE following a repaint, Stagecoach in Hull's 26274, a 2019 ADL Enviro 200MMC, is seen here coming down Holderness Road on a 4 to Orchard Park.
To make an honest admission as we now move out of the Holderness Road area for the first time in two months, I have not up this side of North Bransholme for years. My God, has it changed around here! There’s a whole housing estate here now! There’s a bus that goes up here now! When I was on my school runs, Broadacre Primary School used to be just one big road with questionable parking arrangements, but now it's part of this new housing estate! I wasn’t expecting that new small shopping centre to be up this way, and to discover it was here was one hell of a shock to the system! At least that explains where these buses were stopping on bustimes... I need to check out what else is happening up here when I have the time to do so. Getting a 10 at Wawne, perhaps?
In a part of Hull that I never knew existed up until last Thursday, Stagecoach in Hull's 26274, a 2019 ADL Enviro 200MMC named in tribute to local entertainer 'Joe Longthorne MBE', who passed away around the time when this vehicle was new, lies in wait on the year-old Pioneer Way, the driver seen here waiting to go on a return 6 route to Hull Interchange via the City Centre.
DISCLAIMER: Though the lockdown restrictions have since eased to allow unlimited travel for outdoor ‘exercise or recreation’, this does not mean I can let my guard down. I will still be mindful to keep my distance from others, and my policy still remains ‘whatever comes, if you haven’t got it, get it’. I am still doing my best to maintain social distancing guidelines during my time outside and so should you - stay safe, stay alert; let’s avoid a second peak. Once again, please do not travel on buses unless it is for essential purposes.
Been waiting a long time to catch this one the moment I first saw it. Having finally been stickered up - and its about time these were - for Simplibus branding, in memory of the late great Joe Longthorne MBE, this brand new Enviro 200 MMC carries a fitting local tribute to a local hero.
In bus terms, Stagecoach 26274, a brand new-ish ADL Enviro 400 MMC carrying the Joe Longthorne name, crosses the Ferensway junction bound for Boothferry Estate on route 2.
