Argiope bruennichi (wasp spider) is a species of orb-web spider distributed throughout central Europe, northern Europe, north Africa, parts of Asia, and the Azores archipelago. Like many other members of the genus Argiope, (including St Andrew's Cross spiders), it shows striking yellow and black markings on its abdomen.

Argiope bruennichi (Araneae, Araneidae) / Wespenspinne
"poisonous" is correct since they do use venom to subdue prey, though not dangerous to humans.

A wasp spider (Argiope bruennichi - Wespspin) in its characteristic web with zigzag-shaped decoration, named the stabilimentum, at the centre of the orb. Its function is not currently known. Photographed in August '24. © Tom Kisjes
