"Katsinas"

Looking like a set of Katsina dolls, these ancient yet amazingly well-preserved Barrier Canyon Style pictographs still display vibrant color and detail.

Plus, there is nearly no graffiti or vandalism....which is unusual since they are at ground level and a short five-minute stroll from a road. Although a few photos of it can be found on the internet, its location and GPS coordinates have not been posted online...which explains its pristine condition, and why I won't be sharing more details.

Cheers!

"The Head of Sinbad"

As I've explored the American Southwest looking for landscapes, I've also come to appreciate the wealth of Native American Rock Art that adorns the region.

Also known as "The Skeleton Shaman," this is one of the most intriguing and best-preserved pictographs I've run across.

It is a stylistic masterpiece. The intricate, detailed painting and the profoundly mysterious figures always leave me in awe.

Over the millennium, sun, wind, and rain usually weather and fade the pigment on pictographs, so examples that look nearly new like Sinbad are rare.

Cheers!
