There were several different species of butterflies fluttering around while Melody and I were walking along a road in the Nez Perce National Forest in Central Idaho However, this Orange and Black species were the ones easiest to photograph - though from afar. This image is an extreme crop of a larger digital negative. Used my Canon EOS 60D to capture this image of a butterfly and a bee on a flower.
Mother Nature excels at doing the zig-zag ... the edge of my Virginia Creeper, a few leaves are already turning autumn red while others remain green.
I found this flag display at Ryden's Store, just over the Canada/USA border at Pigeon River, Minnesota. Thought it would make a good tribute to our friends to the south on their Memorial Day.

I let these Coneflower (Echinacea) heads stay in the garden all winter long.
They'll look beautiful capped with snow . . . and provide a winter snack for birds visiting my backyard.

One simple little hops plant is running rampant across my garden. For the most part, I don't mind... it is sticking to the fence. One branch, however, dangles off a cedar tree.
A bumblebee heads for another strawflower and more nectar... Sunday breakfast for bees??
