I was sitting on my back deck when I heard what sounded like a Pilatus aircraft. Looking uo I saw three of our air force's (RNZAF) Texan trainers heading south along the beach (I am 600-700m from the sea). Hoping they would return I grabbed the camera and the 150-600mm lens. No, they didn't return (they ended up landing at Christchurch International Airport), but looking at Flight Radar 24 I saw that a Yak-52 was also heading south along the beach. Luckily it did a 180° turn just south of New Brighton and headed back north where I grabbed this pic.
