Looking back at the archives I found and edited this photo.
I took the family on a skiing holiday to Tignes in France back in 2008. When there I found that an enterprising French diving instructor had taken a chainsaw and cut two holes in Lac Tignes and strung a safety rope between the two holes.
Wearing a drysuit with dry gloves and just my skiing thermals underneath I was as warm as toast during the dive. Saw a few trout which was nice.
I hadn't expected to go SCUBA diving on a skiing holiday! Not cheap but an experience to dive under ice at altitude that I decided could not be missed. My previous experience of diving under ice had been in a clay pit near Peterborough around 1982 in a wetsuit. A lot warmer in a drysuit.
