This lake is part of Eagle Nest Lake State Park, and we just parked about in the middle, and walked down to the lower, southern part of the lake, then back. They had a few nice benches along the way, but it was too windy and cold to sit for long

The Eagles Nest Lake Trail near Angel Fire, NM was full of Gunnison’s Prairie Dogs, who are specially adapted to grasslands and high desert environments like this. They were running all around, in and out of their holes around us.

While we hiked along Eagle Nest Lake near Angel Fire, dark heavy clouds rolled in from all directions. About 10-12 inches of snow was forecasted, so we needed to hustle and be out of there by early afternoon
