SNAKING THRU the city of Winston-Salem were the sentient waters of Salem Creek, hellbent on finding their way to the Yadkin River.

"Yadkin Yadkin Yadkin" they chatter inwardly nonstop. The waters are sentient, sinuous, *and* sinewy, all three.

In Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on April 2nd, 2023, Salem Creek as viewed near the Salem Creek Greenway, west of South Broad Street.

Salem Creek flows to Muddy Creek, which flows to the Yadkin River, which converges with the Uwharrie River to form the Pee Dee River, which flows to Winyah Bay on the Atlantic coast.
