It's a treacherous climb up to a place that I try to return to in spring, where a stream spills off the side of a cliff, and creates distinctive frozen ice forms. Freeze and thaw cycles form constantly changing ice sculpture, filled with organic matter such as pine needles, moss and leaves. The day this picture was taken, the wet ice was covered with black bugs.
Hector Falls is easily viewable from the road. The view toward the lake is compelling as well. It is such a steep fall and winter brings its own magic to the scene.

Seems the last two months was nothing but snowy, frigid weather. Local residents find it dreary and difficult to deal with. A slightly warmer, overcast day made it a lot nicer to get out and take photos for me.

I was over near Seneca Lake for a family gathering. I had to get over to Hector Falls while there was still daylight. It had been years since I've seen these falls frozen solid like this.
