L.N. Parker in 'Several of My Lives' states that the dramatic chorus is 'a choir of mixed voices which takes part in the action on the arena. This must be trained not to sing like a choral society standing stiffly in rows, with each of the vocal parts nicely grouped together; but all mixed up, indistinguishable from the "crowd," and acting. This is not as easy as it looks on paper. But the Narrative and Dramatic Chorus must, as need scarcely be said, sing by heart.'
