The sun was shining this morning, so we decided to head for Calton Hill as our last Edinburgh expedition, to exercise the kids a bit before the long train journey. I didn't think Edinburgh could offer much more in terms of beautiful scenery, stunning views and imposing architecture, but we ticked all of those off again.
We then dropped Dad off back at the hotel and picked up Mum, who had been aching to get to the souvenir tat shops on the Royal Mile. Much tartan/shortbread later (and a little detour to the fudge kitchen), we squeezed everything into bags and began the journey home. A good break.
