A lavishly produced and illustrated brochure issued in the connection with the Centenary of the Clay Cross Co. Ltd., formed by George Stephenson of railway fame, at Clay Cross near Chesterfield in Derbyshire. The company were involved in coal mining, iron manufacturing, brick production and pipe making and were one of a number of importnat industrial concerns in this area of Derbyshire.
The embossed cover shows a vignette of a blast furnace alongside a colliery pithead. The brochure was printed by the noted Derby printers of Bemrose.
A small heard of humans caught in the crosswalk. Somehow I remained undetected by any aggressive members of the pack and am only spotted by a single curious leading worker bee.
