I was going through my late grandfathers' financial papers & found this land survey from 1976 of his service station. in Beamsville, Ontario.
I don't know if he commissioned the survey plan or if it was the Town of Lincoln who did before he sold the property.

I had it framed at Michaels in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Restoring An Antique Fire Truck

While in Virgil, Ontario (technically it is just a part of the Regional Municipality of Niagara now, but I remain old-school) to get some service on my vehicle at Gould Automotive, I had some time to kill. That shop not only does general repairs, but also both vintage and antique car restoration and performance customizations. In this case, performance of an antique fire truck was not an issue, but its restoration to road-worth condition was. They have been working on the firetruck for well over a year as they pursue elusive components needed for the restoration. This vignette shows what was sitting on the driver side rear of the body and just called out for a still-life image to be taken. And, predictably, Red Rule applies. - JW

Niagara Falls: Niagara Falls Illumination

Every evening, beginning at dusk, Niagara Falls is illuminated by special lights housed in the Illumination Tower, next to Queen Victoria Place; on the roof of Table Rock Centre, at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls; and deep in the Niagara Gorge, across from the American Falls. The multi-coloured water and light display is accompanied by a fireworks display every night between Victoria Day in May and Canadian Thanksgiving in October.

Horseshoe Falls, located between Terrapin Point on Goat Island in New York's Niagara Falls State Park and Table Rock in the Canadian province of Ontario, is the largest of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls. Approximately 90% of the Niagara River flows over the approximately 670-metre (2,200 ft) wide crest down approximately 57 meters (188 ft) into a 35-metre (188 ft) deep plunge pool. During peak daytime tourist hours, more than 168,000 m3 of water goes over the crest of the falls every minute.

The American Falls, located in Niagara Falls State Park on the American side of the Niagara River, is the second-largest of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls. The falls receive approximately 11% of the river's flow spread across a 950-foot jagged crest, with a straight line crest width of about 830 feet. The height of the falls range between 70 to 110 feet from the top of the Falls to the talus rock pile, and 188 feet to the river below.

Bridal Veil Falls, located on the America side of the Niagara River, is the smallest of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls. It is similar in appearance to the larger American Falls, from which it is separated by Luna Island which is just 130-feet wide, with a vertical fall of 78-feet to onto a series of talus boulders and into the Maid of the Mist pool 103-feet below. The total vertical drop is 181 feet, and its 56-foot wide crest has an elevation of 508-feet. The waterfall has also been known in the past as Luna Falls and Iris Falls.

Niagara Falls - Fallsview: Falls Incline Railway

The Falls Incline Railway, originally known as the Horseshoe Falls Incline, is a funicular railway connecting Table Rock Centre on Niagara Parkway just above the falls up 60-metres on a 30-degree slope to the Fallsview Tourist area. Built in 1966 for the Niagara Parks Commission by the Swiss company Von Roll, it originally used open-air cars which were replaced with enclosed cars in 2013 for year-round operation. It adopted its current name in the 1980s.

The Embassy Suites Niagara Falls, a 384-foot tall, 42-floor hotel, was built in 2003.

The Tower Hotel was built in 1962--the first of the contemporary observation towers near Niagara Falls. The 99-metre tall tower, which towers 160-meteres above the falls, featured an indoor observation deck with panoramic views on the 25th floor that is currently closed to the public, restaurant, wedding chapel and hotel. It assumed its current name following a renovation in 2010. It was originally called the Seagram Tower and has changed names multiple times throughout its life--the Heritage Tower (1969), Royal Inn Tower (1971), Royal Center Tower (1972), Panasonic Tower (1973), Minolta Tower (1984), and Konica Minolta Tower Centre (2003).

The Ontario Power Company Generating Station, a former generating station along the Niagara River, was built as part of the Ontario Power Company complex to the Beaux Arts design of E.B. Green in 1906. Water would enter the station through buried conduit pipes and steel penstocks from an inlet one mile upstream near Dufferin Islands, generating power through transmission lines downstream to DEvil's Hole where it crossed the Niagara River for delivery to New York State, where it was sold in bulk to Niagara Lockport and Ontario Power Company. The plant continued to operate until 1999 when Ontario Power Generation (formerly Ontario Hydro) decommissioned the Ontario Power Company Generating Station from service in order to accommodate the construction of Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort.

The Whirlpool Aero Car, or Spanish Aero Car, is a cable car that transports up to 35-standing passengers 540-meters over the Niagara Whirlpool. Opened on August 8, 1916, the system was designed by Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo and has been upgraded in 1961, 1967 and 1984. The Niagara Whirlpool, a 38-meter deep natural whirlpool, downstream from Niagara Falls, formed approximately 4,200 years ago by the upstream erosion of the Niagara Escarpment by the Niagara River.
