Fenghuang County (simplified Chinese: 凤凰县; traditional Chinese: 鳳凰縣; lit. 'phoenix county') is a county of Hunan Province, China, under the administration of Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture. Located on the western margin of the province and the southern Xiangxi, it is immediately adjacent to the eastern edge of Guizhou Province. The county is bordered to the north by Huayuan County and Jishou City, to the east by Luxi County, to the southeast by Mayang County, to the southwest and the west by Bijiang District of Tongren City and Songtao County of Guizhou. Fenghuang County covers 1,745 km (674 sq mi), as of 2015, it had a registered population of 428,294 and a resident population of 363,700. The county has 13 towns and four townships under its jurisdiction, the county seat is Tuojiang (沱江鎮).
The town was established in 1556. Traversing Tuojiang River, the Rainbow Bridge is at the centre of the frame.
鳳凰古城，位於湖南省湘西土家族苗族自治州的西南部，土地總面積約10平方千米。 2010年底約5萬人口，由苗族、漢族、土家族等28個民族組成，為典型的少數民族聚居區。 鳳凰古城建於明代嘉靖三十五年(1556年) 。距銅仁鳳凰機場27公里，懷化芷江機場57公里，張家界荷花機場280公里；G209國道與S308省道貫穿全境，枝柳鐵路穿境而過。鳳凰古城與吉首的德夯苗寨、永順的猛洞河、貴州的梵淨山相毗鄰，是懷化、吉首、貴州銅仁三地之間的必經之路。是湖南十大文化遺產之一，曾被新西蘭作家路易·艾黎稱讚為中國最美麗的小城，與雲南麗江古城、山西平遙古城媲美，享有“北平遙、南鳳凰”之名。是國家歷史文化名城，國家AAAA級景區。 2019年10月，入選首屆“小鎮美學榜樣”名單。
