One of three temples open to the public in the area of Takagamine in the north of Kyoto City. Jōshō-ji is affiliated with the Nichiren school of Buddhism. The grounds are particularly famous in spring (cherry blossom) and autumn (maple foliage), but as you can see, the lush green of maple leaves in April in combination with Rhododendrons gives the space a very calm atmosphere.
東京大学本郷キャンパスの赤門。元は1827年に建てられた旧加賀藩主前田家の上屋敷の御守殿門で、朱塗りから赤門と呼ばれる。12代藩主、前田斉泰が徳川11代将軍、徳川家斉の娘、溶姫を迎えるために建てたもの。
Aka-mon gate, Goshuden-mon gate of the former Maeda Clan’s Residence, was built in 1827. The red and wooden gate was for receiving Yasu-hime, a daughter of the 11th shogun, Tokugawa Ienari, as the bride.
