The birthplace of the Rinpa school of art (琳派), the grounds of present-day Kōetsu-ji temple were a village of artisans and artists some 400 years ago. On this morning in late January 2023, the whole area was covered under a blanket of some 20-40cm of snow, which is very unusual for Kyoto City. Although there was blue sky, I think I managed to capture the overall mood quite accurately.
