$5 can buy you a lot of stuff at the flea market! Okay, so this was an unusually great bargain, even for thrifting standards. Colleen and I almost decided not to go to the flea market on Sunday, since the weather was questionable. But since it wasn't raining, we figured it was worth the trip. I spotted a large bin on the ground with American Girl sized clones sticking out of it. But what really captured my attention and lured me over, was the bigger blue container beside it. I couldn't see what was in it from a distance, but I had a feeling there were dolls stashed inside. Low and behold, I discovered the mother load of BRATZ!!! Despite my rather large collection of Bratz, I honestly do not find them in the wild all that often. Their thrifting heyday has long since passed. The woman selling the dolls said they were $1 each. But immediately, I knew I had to try to get a bundle deal. There were too many dolls to process in that moment, and I didn't want to accidentally leave anyone behind. Colleen inquired how much the whole container would be, and the seller responded with $5. That also included another container beside it that was ALL CLOTHES and accessories!!! I had been so distracted by the Bratz Kidz dolls, that I hadn't noticed the extra goodies beside the container. It was kind of cumbersome to haul around the rest of the flea market, but well worth it. Some of these dolls I've been hunting forever for. Literally, I wanted Sleepover Adventure Meygan since I found her clothes in "Craigslist #1" back in 2011. Likewise, I acquired Forever Diamondz Yasmin's outfits twelve years ago, and hoped to reunite them with the doll.
Some of the other honorable mentions include Funk 'N' Glow Sasha from 2003 (she might be the best doll of the lot), Jetset Katia, and SeaWorld Trainer Barbie. Many of the dolls had their fashions in the bin, or at least part of the ensemble. We also acquired a lot of cool accessories, like fragments to the Hot Summer Dayz Pool and thirty pairs of Bratz shoes (I actually mated three of the singles, shown here). The dolls themselves had clearly been neglected for a while...some of them sported rather outrageous tresses. However, I wouldn't say they were filthy, especially considering that most are around fifteen years old. It was so delightful getting a lot of mainly Bratz...a very special treat indeed!
