Sold for preservation to the 71A Locomotive Group 3/97, and stored at, until moved to Mid-Hants Railway in 9/97, and restored. Moved to the Swanage Railway by road on
7/10/99, on loan for two years. Rhe loco remained at Swanage apart from going to Eastleigh Works in 2011, from 7/12 to 9/14, to Nemesis Rail, Burton-upon-Trent
from 9/15 to 4/16, to Eastleigh Works again from 1/21 to 4/22 and attending galas on other heritage railways.
Named Stan Symes at Swanage on 27/11/99 and now painted as
D6515. Removal of the Stan Symes name occurred after Eastleigh Works 100th Anniversary open weekend 23rd/24th May 2009 and it is said to have later briefly carried "PRIDE
OF EASTLEIGH".
Named Lt Jenny Lewis RN at Swanage Station on 12/6/14 with a commemorative plaque beneath the nameplates which read “Lt Jenny Lewis RN/13.3.1977 - 12.6.2002/Class 33 enthusiast from an early age / Observer on Lynx helicopter attached to HMS Richmond. Lost when it crashed into the sea off the east coast of the USA”

Well, this was worth the hassle of waking the hotel owner at 05h30 to unlock the front entrance so I could get out. Although his views might be somewhat different! DLW built BED-30 6509 is about to depart with train 25 23P00 Khulna - Dhaka Kamlapur “Nokshikantha Express” while MLW built DL543 6108 is stabled in the loco holding siding. 27th January 2025.

In de bundel Antwerpen Oorderen bruist het aan het einde van de middag van de actie. DB Cargo heeft sinds enige tijd het alleenrecht voor het bedienen van de 'noordkaai'
van het Churchilldok, waar bundel Oorderen toegang tot geeft. Er wordt staal aangevoerd in alle soorten en maten en uit diverse hoeken van Europa komen wagens. Op vrijdagmiddag 8 november was DB er met liefst drie locs tegelijk actief, waarmee drie treinen staalproducten gebracht werden en twee lege opgehaald. De 6509 staat op de foto gereed om twee lege coilwagens op te halen, terwijl de duisternis over de haven valt.

33 009 arrives at Bristol Temple Meads from Malago Vale working 5O89, the stock for 1O89, the 1640 Bristol Temple Meads - Portsmouth Harbour, on April 20th 1980.

Over in front of the shed, to the left centre background, is a Class 37 in the Bath Road livery of the time, i.e. FILTHY!.

33 009 was built by BRCW as D6509, entering service in May 1960. She was renumbered in March 1974. Withdrawn in March 1992, she was cut up by MRJ Philips at Eastleigh, in March 1997.

Ook op de vroege morgen van 29 juni 2018 was het heerlijk zonnig. Er werd naar de fraaie boog bij Willemsdorp gereden om de toen nog rijdende Daimler autotrein 49604 vast te leggen. In een heerlijk zonnetje zien we de Vlaamse Reuzen 6516 en 6509 met de rode slang aan de fotograaf passeren.

We maken even een sprong in de tijd naar 2017. Het was toen op 4 juni pinksteren.

Alhoewel er bijna geen cargo reed deze eerste pinksterdag, was wat er reed wel heel fraai! Want na een succesvolle plaat van de 1618 in Prinsenbeek werd naar Zevenbergsche Hoek gereden waar, terwijl de inmiddels flink opgebolde stapelwolken net aan de goede kant van de zon passeerden, een fraaie trein bestaande uit glimmende Bay-Logistik containers en EVS-transspul wagens met succes werd geprenteerd. Omdat de trein niet erg hard ging en bij Lage-Zwaluwe een raampjestrein moest voorlaten werd een tweede poging gedaan om de trein vast te leggen. Ter hoogte van Dordrecht konden de 6509 en 6512 met trein 42583 naar Kijfhoek ondanks de vele aanwezige wolken en terwijl de zon bijna in een grote wolk zat, toch succesvol worden afgedrukt. De trein zou enkele uren later met een 189 via de Betuweroute richting Emmerich gaan.
