“NUCLEAR PULSE ROCKET”

Although it may be ‘stupid’ and created primarily for marketing purposes, it still looks really cool. I would’ve liked to have seen it in a science fiction movie of the time,

More importantly, there’s now a high-resolution version available!

MOST importantly, the artist has been identified!!

As an aside, as it's currently posted, the 'MARTIN-DENVER' stamp on the verso is upside down. Since this is not of NASA origin, I'd like to think, especially back in 1958, that the Martin Co. employee that stamped it knew what he/she was doing. So, maybe the image is upside down? Klingon Bird-of-Prey 'bias' may have also contributed to perpetuating this possibly wrong orientation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Striking ca. 1958/59 Martin Company artist’s concept depicting (possibly) the proposed Juno V launch vehicle, and possibly, to a degree, the “original” Saturn I. The depiction may have been used in/as part of the Army Ballistic Missile Agency’s (ABMA) Project Horizon proposal. The beckoning moon may support such a supposition. Then again, many artist’s concepts of this time, regardless of how applicable/appropriate, may have featured the orbed maiden. Finally & specifically, since there appear to be no separation planes visible on the thrusting second stage, this may be the Juno V two-stage flight test vehicle. Possibly supported by Ed Dempsey’s linked diagram below.
I’m winging it…so who knows.

Beautiful airbrush work. Being of Martin Company origination, the “Dream Team” of Frederick E. Fahdt, Frank R. DiPietro, John Gorsuch & truly enigmatic (probable) Mr. Olivari are the usual suspects. Maybe even Nick Stanilla?

Bits & pieces regarding the Juno V, Saturn A-1, etc., etc. are all over the place. The best IMHO, at:
