Since the 1950s Bradmill operated a textile factory beside the West Gate Freeway and the freight railway in the Melbourne suburb of Yarraville. The factory closed in ~2005 but the buildings were left intact for some time, until the site being cleared for residential development in 2012.
Bradford Cotton Mills “Woven into Our Way of Life” and its subsidiary Burlington Mills (Aust) “Woven into the Life of Australia”, located in Rutherford was the largest textile manufacturing company in Australia.
Bradmill Industries was established in Sydney in 1927 and produced wool, cotton and man-made fibre and yarns. The Mill in Rutherford occupied approximately 205 acres and provide hundreds of jobs for local people for decades until it closed in 2000.
