This year, the Japanese ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr. Hiroshi Minami, was the guest of honor. He was accompanied by the mayor of Almere: Hein van der Loon.
Since 2019, the Cherry Blossom Festival (Hanami Matsuri) has been celebrated in Almere Buiten with picnics and other activities. The 850 Japanese ornamental cherry trees along the Terracottastraat and the Sienastraat are in bloom around the end of March/beginning of April. This year, the Japanese ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr. Hiroshi Minami, was the guest of honor.
