On the south west end of the island is a famous surfing spot. A kind of small village sprouted there. Surfers erected huts out of old camping vans and sheet metal. Off-season, this village is almost deserted.

We planted dill & fennel in between the butterfly bushes and roses weeks ago, hoping to attract Black swallowtail caterpillars. Yesterday it finally paid off when this lone guy popped up! So swallowtails have been visiting without our notice. I wonder if he's the only one, the last, or the first? I've never seen a Black swallowtail cat before.
