A company of four posing with a horse-drawn carriage in the countryside. At first sight, one might think this photo dates from the 19th century. On closer inspection, however, the ladies' female suits, cloche hats, and Mary Janes reveal that it was taken in the 1920s.
Two frumpy-looking-ladies – possibly mother and daughter – posing on donkey back in a photographer's studio. The donkeys are not live animals but photo props of some sort. The backdrop shows the Rhine Valley and Drachenfels Rock with its famous castle ruins.
Drachenfels, situated in the town of Königswinter near Bonn, has been a popular tourist spot ever since the romantic era of the early 19th century. Up to the present day, visitors can reach the top of the mountain on the back of a donkey.

Here's an amusing snapshot showing a lady posing on the bonnet of an Essex automobile. Two dapper fellows can be seen supporting her. The American-made car is registered with Swiss number plates issued before 1933. The blurry vintage photograph is still mounted on part of a page of a family album.
